I live in a rural area of a larger city for Kansas - Topeka. I have been told repeatedly that we will never have cable service. The population is too sparce out here. So I am stuck with a modem also, I will never live closer to town.
I have said earlier that Yahoo sucks. I get my Yahoo mail out of sequence. I will get replys to mail from the mail group an hour or two before the original mail item arrives.
Sometimes there can be up to a 12 hour delay between when you send your mail to Yahoo and when Yahoo delivers the mail to my mail server. This is not my mail server problem because I do not have issues with mail from other servers. Watch the time stamps.
In regards to cross posting and flaming, there are many active forums out there where this is not an issue. Rob, Phil, and I all participate in a CJ8 forum where I have never seen a single flame. It is a matter of behaving like adults and treating each other with respect.
Later, Ken

I agree I don't like Yahoo either and I want to get away from it ASAP. I am just haveing problems with this site. I also think for the amount of posts the club has for now multiple boards aren't needed. My problem with this site is speed when it takes me over 5 minutes for me to post this message that is toooooo long. it took me over 2 minutes earlier today to get from one board to the next. I can open a 3 minute mpg movie faster than that. I know there are better boards available and I understand they cost money. I also understand Alex is just putting ideas out for the whole group to decide on what they like and what not. I just don't like this site for it's speed on my computer(which could be some error in the way my computer is set up, but unlikely since this is the only place I notice it) and I don't think it is necessary to have multiple boards for the amount of posts.

Personally, I like the forum type message boards better than recieving multiple emails. I come home to about 30 emails a day not including Yahoo TK mail. The only thing I do not like about a separate forum as opposed to a email list is that some people will not be informed as well as they would be with direct emails. I am all for having our own website but the cost starts at $245.00 a year. However I have already purchased the domain name of www.trailkrawlers4x4.org. There is nothing there yet because I have no host or server, but I am going to look into have a cheaper host foward our site to Dirk's for now. Mark since you are they only one that has a problem with this message board's speed, you may need to make sure your "cookies" are enabled and that you have an updated version of Internet Explorer(5.5 or above). My 2 pennies.

But what all is included in that? Great job on getting the .org! At least we have it!

This is the only site I have problem with for speed. I have IE 6.0 with all the latest patches My 'puter is less than a year old AMD 1700 w/256k Ram so unless it is a settings problem I don't understand what else it could be. I turned the email portion of the Yahoo site off so I wouldn't get the email. I hate getting a bunch of email. I must be misunderstood about the whole Yahoo thing. I don't want to keep the web site there. I just like the single message board. But with getting through this site faster could make me like the multiple boards better. I like haveing the classified section seperate but IMHO the rest could all be combined into one. The way things are now, it could take 10-15 minutes just waiting to go from board to board, that is total time not to each board. With this cable modem I came to expect instant transfer even with photos. Since there is mostly text here I am baffeled as to why it takes so long.

I was just joking about band width earlier, but there may be a routing problem Mark. About the host Alex, I'm not sure how much, but I have some space that I'll never use. Could we set that up? The cable guy will be here tomorrow PM. Will I need authorization to list the name? do you need a special password to access the server? If you can use it and answer any question above and any other I haven't thought of I'll see if I can set it up.

Well the speed to this site is improving. But I, being of simple mind still don't like the multiple fora. But that is me.

Hey #2 head, I don't think anyone got the whole #1ing you off thing.
On a separate note. I really like this format. I haven't been here lately, because when I first checked it out, it was just rob, alex and myself using it. So I stayed away. Now I hopped back over here and it has come to life.
I am not having any problems with speed. It only takes a few seconds to load a page for me. I personally like having different topics. Right now it is not a big deal, but as the club grows, there will be lots more people here. I think it will be nice to have a section where we can just shoot the breeze. I also think that if there is a part to be had or to sell, that there is a given place to go for it. The only section that may not fit is the Kansas Krawl page, however, for now I think it is a good idea, as there is likely to be a lot of information that has to be shared about this beings that it is the first one.
