While I was swapping out the hub Mike Caffey let me borrow I took the other hub off to make sure all was well with it. And lo-and-behold that hub was literally in pieces:( Looked like a hub fuse was blown! What in the world could be causeing this? Will going to Warn permium hubs help? BTW it was a Warn hub we had to replace on the trail and this was a Mile Marker.

Answer: FORD frontend ;D ;D. Usually a good set of Warns will help and I've seen good result with Superwinch hubs. Did you inspect the hubs before you started wheeling, maybe they were already bad.

Depends on vehicle. My 77 chevy is about $90, my Scout is around $110 for the warn Premiums.

So what all is the difference between the Premium and standard besides the dial?

www.gowarn.com/hubs.htmI think the only difference is the dial . I believe the dial on the warn standards is plastic , the premiums has a brass dial.

Hmm I really never have seen a problem with the dials it is the hub it's self. But what do i know?

If you want trail spares get the slugs?? don't nknow what they are really called but a solid piece that replaces the hub and is then fulltime. about $10 at a shop or junkyard

Yup this converion has been preformed 1000's of times. everything spin freely, no binding. I t could be that all the hubs were used but I can't believe that was the case for 3 of them. I have a set of warn Premiums ordered so we'll see after that.

mark did you try calling warn and see if they will send you replacements for the blown hubs Ive known of several occasions where they will send replacments free of charge. I am going to do this but just havnt gotten around to it.

Nah I know they have lifetime warrenty along with the mile markers. I didn't originally buy them new and I feel bad about doing that.
