If I'm going to be a trail leader I need to go out to learn the trails better or make myself a map.

Please fill in the ignorant; what is the Kansas Krawl? Is it something TK started this year? Thanks Sorry it took so long to reply, I just noticed this post tonight It's our(TK's)annual event with this year being the 1st. Basically it's a fund raiser for TK, there are expenses to having a club and this is one of the best ways to raise money for that and it also gives us a chance to improve the image of 4-wheelin' and introduce new people to our sport. We take folks out on guided trail runs for the day on all difficulty levels, come back to the Randolph City Park for a BBQ, lot's of door prizes to give away and winch to raffle off. It's alot of work to put on an event but it's also alot of fun.

Oh I bet it is a lot of work to get started. Just like starting your own biz. But once you all get if going and getting enough ppl (the more the merrier) to make the event well known, you will be wishing you could go back to the old days where it was a small event. ;D Don't take me wrong, I don't mean anything bad by that; that's just the way things go. Sounds cool though.

When an event like this, that is the only fund raiser for the club(membership dues just don't cover all the expenses)I've never wished for a smaller turn-out, bottom line is more people=more$$$. With a club as young as ours is, there's alot of people spending alot of $$ out of their own pockets to make things happen, now that's dedication.

Here we are, basically 27 days away from the Krawl, and we don't have enough people to guide trails! What's up with that? I got alot of volunteers, but everyone can't be a tailgunner and less than 10% of the volunteers have actually shown up to learn the trails. The trails are probably the most important part of the KK, if folks don't enjoy themselves on the trail they won't be back. If they don't have a good time on the trails, the leader is not doing his/her job. There's a few people busting their butts to make this event happen and we could use some help! Sound like I'm a little stressed about it? I am, that's my job.

Rob, if i can do the registration and lead a group i am certainly willing to go for it. I'll need to make sure i know the easy trail better but i'm willing to wheel it till i get it right.
I like the map the corp put out, i think it would be good for us to customize it a bit too. I'm very visually oriented, i learn by seeing things. I'm not sure how i will be able to do the table and the trails but i'll do whatever you want me to do.

I will lead but I need to get out there some more to learn the trail better. Is there any way we can get a map of the trails? Would any one be up to wheel on next sunday? I can make it out saturday but I can't stay out that long, KState has a home game at 6:00 I think.

If it's at all possible, we need a stock or close to stock rig leading the easy trail, I remember all to well what it was like on my first run in a stock rig, having a guide with a stock rig made a big difference to me, seeing a rig that wasn't any more built than mine do an obstacle was a great confidence builder. I figured if he can do it, so can I. You can't leave that impression on folks when you're leading the easy group with a highly modified rig.
Phil, we're going to have to play your situation by ear, more than likely there's going to be late registrations and we're going to have to have someone at the park pretty much all day to deal with that. That doesn't necessarily have to be you but if there's no one else willing it may be you, we'll have to wait and see how our manpower situation works out.
Mike, if you can make it on Sat. we can get you run through the med. trail with plenty of time to make the game. Most of the actual trail work is done, with the exception of a couple spots on the easy trail and the hard trail. Now it's pretty much just a matter of running the trails and keeping the park cleaned up. Sundays are pretty bad for me right now, I committed to welding at Marks every Sunday till Blue is done. Late Sunday afternoons would possibly work, and Friday's also work for me(except Sept. 5th, I have to work). The Corp just posted a map of the area but it's based on the '91 photo from Terra-Server, with some work it could be useful. I grabbed a couple copies and will be working on that.

Rob I`d be more than happy to help out. Since I plan on being out there as much as possible before the krawl. ;D The med. would be ideal but the zuki might be the right rig for the easy trail. Is pretty close to stock and not very impressive to look at. I`d more than likely think that my nice new stocker has the upper hand over a little beater like the zuki Let me know Dan,

I won't be able to make it this Saturday, i have a wedding to do but i have an idea. Maybe we should do a "mock" run thru? Have different guys lead a group, that way they, (we), get some experience. I'm so used to following someone most of the time that i kind of just zone out and don't pay as much attention to details or landmarks like i should.

It's looking like my scout won't be ready for the Krawl :'(but I will be there and am willing to assist where needed the day of the the event. I guess I could always run the easy trail with my 77 Chevy 3/4 ton and it's as close to stock as they were made in 1977. ;D

Good idea Phil, at the next business meeting, Sept. 13th, we need as many to show up as possible and we'll have a mock run through and see how things go.
Thanks for the offer Dan! I just might put you to work on the easy trail, I'll let you know.
Bill, I just might have something for you, let me work out some details and I'll shoot ya a PM.

Rob, I should be at the orv next sat. the 6th. I`d like to get to know the trails better even if im not needed. It cant hurt for me to learn the park, now that i`ve got a toy that isnt as hard on gas as my full size. Now I can afford to go play more often. I`ll see you then Dan.
