Does anyone here run nitro or a hobby class r/c? I've got a used T-maxx in the mail and had some questions if any of you know anything about nitro.
Thanks

how long have you ran nitro? I've never been around one so it may take awhile for me to catch on.
I can't wait to run the T-Maxx. It's 4WD. ;D

I've been running nitro for about 6 months now. There pretty neat but you have to get the fuel ratio set properly. Too lean it will be sluggish, too rich the motor will run hot resulting in motor damage. Mines 2wd, like a rail buggy

Heres a couple of the Nitro Rush, it's been modified from stock version and has been clocked at 47mph ;D. Heres without body: Heres one with nonstock body: These can be alot of fun, some neighborhood kids found out they can't outrun it on there skateboards

I've traded the bigger one for a nitro T-Maxx. Can't wait to run it.

I have a TMAXX its alot like a Jeep you work on it for an hour to play for ten minutes. No its not that bad. my carb has been hosed since the day I bought it new. The thing is a blast though my buddy has a rc10gt stadium truck its a blast to just drive right over him. ;D if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have the HPI Nitro MT it's 4wd like the tmaxx but about half the size (in height). it's fun but I need a new carb that has low idle needle mine only has a single needle . Just make sure to constantly check all the screws and bolts and use blue Loc-tite. I've learned from the loss of many parts!! John

John, you hit that nail on the head . Seems everytime I run mine I have to replace a missing screw or bolt if it hasn't had loctite put on it. What kind of range can you get with yours before you loose control of it. I upgraded to a megatech .17 in my rush, it has the low idle screw and makes a big difference.

I think (i'm sure) my used one that I JUST got has a cracked carb right below the high speed needle. I just tried to start it and then I plugged the pipe and it sprayed a little fuel out. I need to buy a new one right? How much?
Thanks

If you are referring to fuel coming out the exhaust pipe that is a sure sign of a flooded motor . The easiest way I know to start one and get it to run properly is to screw the fuel mixture screw in till it bottoms then back it out 2 turns, once it starts either lean it out or richen it until you get a nice snappy response from the motor. PS: even after it is running it's normal to get fuel residue out of the exhaust.

Possibly I flooded then engine (i don't know, 1st timer here) but what is real important is the crack in the carb.
Do I have to buy a whole new one?
Thanks

If the carb is actually cracked I'd say you need a new one. Why did it crack , did the PO run the motor too lean causing it to get too hot and crack. Remember it is better to run the motor a little rich, if you run it too lean it allows the motor to run hot. Continually running a nitro motor too hot will ruin it
