8-)Just thought I would let you know that if you are going to buy a tubing bender, better buy lots of tubing to learn off of. Bending tubing takes a long time to learn how to get things to turn out the way that you think they ought to. Takes lots of planning ahead. What kind of bender are you buying?

Its ok Allen, I'm sure you meet tons of people working at 4x4 Land. I was thinking about a 8.8 and go with a ARB. I would like to do most of the work on the 8.8 my self except the gears and ARB. I'm sure I will tell you about it on Friday, but right now it looks like I will be have you guys put in a roll cage in a week or so. I have to wait for grades to come out on Monday but it looks like I will have a 3.0 or 2.8 which for me is amazing . My dad made a deal that if I got a 2.5 or better he would buy me a roll cage ;D.

8-)There is one guy in the club who has a Tj that I did the cage in. His name is Rusty Ramage. He has a white 2000 TJ with a Rubicon Express long arm kit. I did his through the dash like most of the others. I like doing them that way because there is so much less clutter, as long as you don't mind putting the tubing through a 2" hole in the dash, then you will like it better.
Are you wanting an ARB in the front or rear?

I wanted the cage to go though the dash. For now I was going to put a ARB in the rear or go with a Detroit again, I'm not really sure yet.

8-)Detroits do drive funny, especially in a TJ, but they are reliable. As long as you don't mind how the detroit makes your TJ drive, I would go with it in the rear. I don't recomend putting a locker such as powertrax or etc that goes inside the existing carrier because in an 8.8 when you go to a lower gear, the ring gear is thicker. so you can't install the main pin without grinding some off the teeth

I have a detroit right now in my dana 35 and I like it a lot. Its a little funny on the street but not that bad, I have gotten used to it. I really just kinda want a ARB because of the tire wear with the detroit. I also think my TJ drives the way it does because I still have short arms.

Ive done a little bending, I understand what you mean I think prep before the bend is made is 99% of it. I bought a JD3 with a 1.75 die and a JD2 notcher. Bought them used form someone I met off the net. So far I have a CJ to make nerf bars for, front bumper for my rig,and we are tubing the heck out of the rear of a friends fullsize truck taking the bed off and all that. Then theres a TJ cage and finally when my dads Willys is done with the 4 links I have to build his new cage. I got lots of practice ahead of me all ready!!!

We screwed up a few times last year doing my XO cage, but once we got our heads on straight, it was smooth sailing. Neither of us bent before and did my half assed XO cage in 1.5 days. Once you get the feel for it, you are golden. Don't get bent over on tube work. Once the word is out, you will have a lot more friends. Make SOME cash off them. I've already got ideas for my junk once we move and the beder is free for use. I'm also going to buy a smaller die for it (1.25" probably) as well to make it easier to tuck it all under the fenders. I'm happy I have acces to a bender within 50 miles now! Plus I am part owner

Im thinkin of a 1in die, nuts if you wanna go with 1.25 Ill go halfs with you on it next month some time or when ever your ready. I will have most of my projects done pretty quickly once we get all set up. My bumper and the nerf bars will be done in no time, as long as I can get what I want out of the bumper...its going to be a biatch but cool as hell when done.
Im not to worried about it....I wont get "bent" outta shape. ;D
Chris its yours to use whenever you need it you know that bro. All the true KHOR brothers have access (me you and Miles lol)
