;D Just so happens that I have a Sony digital camera and a Sony Hi8 handycam with 460x digital zoom. I amnot sure how you could download the Hi8 to a PC. But I know someone can figure out something. Was wanting a digital camera but them things aren't cheap

I was thinking about the whole marking thing(we're in trouble now! ) instead of marking the entire trail, just mark the obstacles on each given trail. For the most part, the trails between obstacles are easy, but I think if we were to mark the obstacle with a color coded difficulty level, if someone were to get lost, which is unlikely if the trail guide and tail gunner are doing their job, they would at least know how hard an obstacle is when they came upon it.

What color coding should we use? To me, the most logical would be- Green- Easy Yellow- Moderate Red- Hard

Then what to do when it may be yellow at the top, but red at the bottom. an arrow maybe?

well heres my thought.....if someone gets lost from the group or breaks and gets split up from the group or whatever......then whats that person going to want to do?? Are they going to want to keep wheeling by themselves? or are they going to want to find their way back to the staging area? if it was me i would want to make it back to the staging area so that i could maybe get hooked back up with my group. I think we should put up some "staging area this way" signs and put them on the quickest and easiest way back. Or maybe i'm just thinking like to much of a newbie.

Sounds like someone is gonna have there work cut out for them on marking trails. Here's my thought and it may be a stupid one at that- would it not be possible to scan a map of the trail layout and mark spot on the map that coincide with markers at designated points on the trail, you know those You Are Here spots. Seems like it would work to me but I've had stupid ideas before You could possibly even mark easy, moderate and hard trails on the map.

Mike you have a good idea 'cept that most likely you will se the stageing area 2 in the day going to the ORV and Leaving the ORV (for the event that is). If the trail leader and trail gunner and hopefully a rocking chair are doing their jobs and if every one keeps the guy behind him in their view this will never be a problem. will that ever happen prolly not but I am an optimist. For the event I think it is wise to mark the trails but to have perminant markers they will not last. it has been tried before but the signs have gotten destroyed.

Food for thought: For those of us that do not know the names of the trails and want to help however we can with the krawl, maybe during the trail rides that we do in the next few months the hill or obstacle could be mentioned on the cb to help us learn them. Bryan

Bryan has a good idea there. As for a map, the only topo available is about 10 yeare out of date and has only a few trails on it.

Was wanting a digital camera but them things aren't cheap I have2 camcorder both of which are not working anymore:( I do have a way to put them on PC though and some basic editing. Bad thing is I don't have the extra $$$ for the camcorder replacement. Mark

I did find out that Sony makes a device that hooks up to PC and lets you change the Hi8 to digital format for the sum of $475 I'll have digital camera and camcoder when I show up. I can download the digital pics and let theTrail Krawlers post them. But please someone have a camera to get some pics of my Scout in action-can't drive and take pics of my own rig.

So you wheel a jeep and your gonna be on the full size trail. So are you gonna be trail leader or is that the trail you wanna run? The last time I was at tuttle I stood my scout on its back bumper ( to much skinny pedal ). Out of all the people standing at the top of the hill watching my climb no one even got a picture for my scrapbook I've still got the piece of seat I pulled out of my--never mind I won't tell about that part

Actually I lead a full size group at a Flatlanders 4X4 fest. It is pretty much the medium route that is wide enough for a full size ex cab to fit through. Me and Blue have had a strap on several full sized rigs before. Check this one out the DUde in the Z71 has less than 100 miles on the ticker and thought he was Captain Nemo! And we all know Jeeps are bad! Sorry the pic is soo small. Mark

If thats the spot I think it is I seen a F250 stuck there and a friend tried to strap him out with his scout 800 and broke a rear axle. Finally two jeeps hooked onto him and got him out. I try to shy away from mud but if needed mash skinny petal and make big block come to life
