Keeping cost in mind as a factor, which winch would you choose and why?

In retrospect, I would do the same, by a used 8274 budget for solonoids,(about $20 each) and a new rope.

I like the Warns, i have had two of them and except for the recent solinoid problems, i've used them a lot with no problems. I have not had any experiences with the others so i really can't speak from experience on those other brands. I will say this; i used to have the model that Harold has and i like it better than my xd9000. His seems faster too. I believe he has the M8274-50?

I like my warn when the wiring isn't catching fire. I have only had to use it once, but it pulled me out of some mud that was up to the frame no problem. I personally could care less about the speed, I just want something that will work, without requiring my muscles to do it (i.e. hi-lift or come-a-long.
