Finally figured out that mild wobble I have had since CO last August is a bent axle, not a missing wheel weight. I really do not expect to find a used one but thought I would ask. I do not even want to part out the one from the 82 even though I have a d44 sitting there waiting to go under it. Later, Ken

Is the housing bent or the axle shaft? If it's the axle shaft, Mike at 4x4 Land was going to sell me a used one for my wide-trac D30 as a spare for $40. Hope this helps.

That is nice to know. I assume it is the axle shaft. There is not any noticable damage to the tube. I think I got this in CO going through a real narrow shute. I thought I had rubbed off a wheel weight. But I put it on jack stands yesterday, put it in 4wd, and you can see the rotor move back and forth on the LF wheel.

You may of bent the hub flange. Or the rotor may have warped. Of course you should feel that in the brakes either way.

I went out to Mike Starkebaum's shop tonight to get an axle but he talked me out of it. He doesn't think it is an axle by what I described to him. He suggested checking out the bearing first. If that is all in good shape, he thinks I probably bent the spindle. I will look at the bearing this week end.
I am not sure what the hub flange is. The rotor does not appear bent but it is hard to tell with the wobbling. Nothing feels unusual in the brakes. The spindle moves (wobbles) up and down as the axle turns which also makes the rotor wobble. I could also see what looked like minor movement in the axle u joint but Mike also said that could be caused by the bent spindle.
I am learning about things I do not care to learn about.

The flange where the wheel and brake disc mount could be bent, that's what I ment to say. It seems that you covered that base, hard to tell without a dial indicator set on it though.
