Was thinking of throwing one together for the fun of it and to test as I make mods. I have never driven on one personally, so I am not sure what angle would be the best to make it. Some say 20, 23, 25, 30, ect. Could maybe use it for club events and such to. Are there alot of rigs out there that a 20 or 23 angle ramp is not enough for? Maybe go with 25?

At 30 degrees you get 6.93" of rise per foot. So if I wanted the ramp to be..... 6ft tall at the end i would need to make it.... around 10.38ft long with a 12ft ramp surface. Maybe 6' of rise if overkill? I know it will be for my rig, but I am thinking for general use.
It would alow for a rig with a WB of upto 120" to score a 1000 without driving beside it. Or does the scoring work different at 30 degrees?

The Fartlander's have a 30 degree rampthat has worked out pretty good. I don't think 6 ft. tall is overkill. Although I have seen a buggy almost go over the top of this ramp. Ted went 84" up the ramp, I went 73" up the ramp

After messing with the FL ramp alot over the years, I think 30* is overkill for general use. It's not fun when ya get a rig slightly over stock that can only ramp 12". I think 25* is a good general purpose incline.

Hey Andy, I have the ramp, just no legs or wheels. Was thinking on using swing up axles so we could just pull a pin and drop it, instead of taking the wheels off. Any thoughts on that?

A swing up axle would be nice as long as it was solid and stout enough for towing at highway speeds. Some kind of suspension would be nice too, the FL ramp had no susp. at all and it sucked towing it on bumpy roads at 55-60mph.

Ya, I was planning a setup like a calf chute would have with just induvidual swing up wheels on each side that you lock down, but no suspension. Doing a regular axle with suspension would be easiest with one of thost tortion axles that have rubber inside.

I was thinking this afternoon.(not to safe for me while on the road) ;D we could pivot off the base and use light springs at an angle back to the upright. string a cable thru them to limit travle and keep the spring in place. Just pull a pin on the cable, lift and drop the spring out. you could even have shocks. (I'll draw it b4 the next meeting)

I'm guessing that the average RTI ramp weighs roughly the same as a 650cc motorcycle. If that's the case, why couldn't you build an A-arm or swing arm type thing coming off both sides(laterally) of the rear of the ramp, using a couple of motorcycle shocks on each side as the suspension, and simply un-bolt the top shock mount(which could be attached to the rear up-right on each side of the ramp)allowing the a-arm or swing arm unlimited upward travel, which would let the ramp base sit on the ground by just removing 2 bolts. I'm also thinking about a hinged set up at the front of the ramp for swing out stabilizers and hinging the incline section of the ramp, making the angle adjustable to either 25* or 30*. This would also allow the ramp to be laid down flat during transport and you'd also have a small utility trailer then. Did that make any sense Maybe I'm just thinking too much

I think motorcycle shocks would be on the light side. I did notice that that flattened car out at the ORV had coilover shocks on the rear that probly would have worked. Another thing that would possibly work is to use leaf springs in a setup like on the back of some rock buggies I have seen with the axle on the eye and the leaf inverted. You could just have a release in the middle of the pack to let it hinge upward on the other eye.
