Well guys I need your opinions/ advice on this one. With my Scout 80 krawler project it's gonna be tough mounting a radiator in front of the engine without major fabrication to the core support. Has anyone had hands on with mounting a radiator/ electric fans in the rear of there rig. It's open in back like a pickup so I believe the airflow will be sufficient.
Come on, give me opinions, advice, ideas or feedback.

I wish mine would have been in the back, new radiators are not cheap. Seriously, i am really ignorant on this subject.

The lack of knowledge on rear mounted radiators doesn't qualify you as ignorant. I'm in the learning stage on this one also but I will share my knowledge once I gain it . Just remember-- You can teach an old dog new tricks. If you don't believe me just ask my wife ;D

Ive known of two people that tried to run there radiators in the back of there trucks and have had a hard time keeping the engine from getting hot. there just isnt enough air flow to keep the radiator cool plus you lose the airflow over your engine which actually does quite a bit for keeping your engine cooler.

What mike said but I don't know anyone that runs that way 'xept for the go fast deasert racers. I'd hate for you to get that MOPAR hot! Do some reserch before you try.

Yeah Mike has a point of heat still in the engine compartment. That issue hadn't emerged yet.
Well looks like more custom work to keep the radiator up front. Thats the reason I ask for advice, someone always thinks of something that can be an issue down the line.

But If you ran a fan and a shroud you could pull cooler air than that going through the radiator, but I could be off on this. I'd think you would need to run hood vents as well to get the air out.. I am running A 102.2° temp so I might be having incoherant thoughts. Like the temp has antyhing to do with that!

I have plans to install a hoodscoop to help get rid of the heat. I'll go to u-wrench-it this weekend to scope out some radiators and a taurus electric fan. Cost wise it will be cheaper to keep the rad up front and I need my cargo space for spare tire and such anyway.

I suppose you could mount it in the back and if it starts to overheat, just put her in reverse and drive backwards really fast!

Mike is correct in the problems with air circulation. I have friends that do mud drags and the say it does help if you get it back about center of the bed instead of right behind the cab. just my .01 John ;D

Hey John, glad to see ya on the board. Advice and comments are always welcome. I'll start modifing core support to accomindate a rad and electric fans this weekend. Since the Scout isn't for mud drags I'll keep the radiator up front. I doubt that my BB Mopar engine has the HP for mud drags anyway
