My 4Runner came stock with the metric equivilant to 31's. I now have 32's. I have enough clearance to put 33's on, however I have a question about regearing.
I have an automatic transmission with 4.10 gears. So my questions are these:
If I don't regear, where will my performance suffer on and off road?
Do I have an advantage with and automatic transmission over a manual transmission?

I'm sure you have overdrive, I would go with 4.56 if you have overdrive. I don't so if I went with 4.10's in my TJ, with 4.56 my RPM's would even higher than they are now at 70 or 75. You could get by with 4.10's, maybe put 33's and see how it drives.

With such a marginal difference in tire size and since you have an auto you don't have to regear. It would be nicer but you can get by with what you gave. Auto's are much more forgiving than a stick.

You can get by running 4.10s. You will only be going from 31s to 33s and will not really notice the difference with the automatic transmission. The only difference you might notice is your speedometer will be off about 5mph ;D. Of course if you're gonna do some hardcore crawling the 4.56:1 gears would be nice

This is all music to my ears. ;D It would be hard for me to justify the added expense for gears after purchasing tires. I'd rather spend it on a custom bumper w/ rear tire carrier, since 33's won't fit up under the truck.
