whats the width? Would it be worth my time to get some wagoneer 44s for my TJ or stay with my dana 30 and get a 8.8. I'm tying to see what I might do over winter. What width and bolt pattern are scout dana 44's? Out of any of these what would everyone reconmind?

Ford Dana 60's!! Someone can correct me(Bill W.)but I think all Scout fronts are pass. side drop, plus there'd be fab work involved getting it set up for coils etc. You might be further ahead to look into early Bronco D44's they'd have the correct drop for the diff. and already set up for coils. I've seen several on E-bay recently.

I found out about scout after looking some more last night. So what did this guy use for the rear if the wagoneer rear is off center? I'm just kinda trying to get a idea of what I can do this winter. I think puting in a aw4 or 700r4 is first.

It's still possible to use a rear D44 out of a Wagoneer, not all of them are off-set, just the quadratrac ones are. Jim Henson's "Brutus" originally came with D44's front and rear, the front being drivers side drop and the rear being centered. But it didn't run quadra-trac, it came with the Jeep T-18 tranny and Dana 20 transfer case so the rear D44 was centered. IMHO, the question is, how big of tires are you going to run and how hard are going to wheel it? If you're going to stay around the 35" tire range, I'd suggest either a Scout 44 rear(not sure about the width difference though) or a Ford 8.8. and beef the 30 a little(I'm sure I'll catch some flack for that)with maybe Warn shafts etc. If you're going to run much bigger than 35's then swap out the front too.
As for tranny swaps, I'd go with a 700R4, the newer ones are quite reliable, they have a lower low range and there's more options to t-cases. There's nothing wrong with an AW4, it just doesn't have as low of a low gear and your limited to your t-case options. Personally, I don't like how they shift, kinda mushy to me, but they are extremely reliable, the one in my XJ has over 250,000 miles on it and works fine.

I think a scout axle is about 3" narrower.
I thought FSJ waggies were 5 on 5.5

to find the fsj rigs with 44s they are mostly the newer ones it seems. Some guys I know have a 89,90, and another 89 I think. They are all D44 front and rear with no funky offset since they are selec-trak models. They are LP44 axles though.

Narrower than what Actually I know alot of people that run scout axles under there jeeps and scramblers. It gives them a 4" wider stance And all scout front axles have the passenger side pumpkin.

Both Alex and I are running the D30 with 37" tires. Mine is just the low pinion with stock shafts and I've been able to keep it alive through the garden several times now. I bought some spare shaft assemblies for a little over $200 so I keep those with me as insurance.
I've considered going D60/14 bolt, but I think I'll wait until I've broken my lightweight, high-clearance D30 a few too many times. Besides, I'd have to get bigger meats to match those axles ;D

I'm just going to run my dana 30 and beef it up someday, and get a 8.8 sometime soon I hope. Then get a dana 300 and a AW4 someday when I'm done with school.
