Well, last week did some tuneup stuff on the 89XJ. Needed it bad it turned out. With 320K miles it still had the factory cap and rotor Rotor was terrible and the coil wire was corroded onto the cap. The plugs were out about 10 over spec as well. Also had stock AMC plug wires on it yet. Poured in a can of seafoam to clean the injectors. Putting a new Mopar oxygen sensor in this week. Any other things to check on? Finished flushing the cooling system, flushed the tranny a few months ago. Seems to start quicker and idle smother.

What about the fuel filter? If it hasn't been changed in awhile that will give you a noticable power improvement.

How about the water pump? with that many miles on it I bet its been a while before thats been changed ;D, also since your doing the O2 sensor how about the EGR valve? Check out the throttle body (if its got carbon on it might want to use some non-harsh solvent i.e. mineral spirts, or carb/choke cleaner) Battery? (replace) check your ground on the block might need to be cleaned also. Alternator? you can take it into Autozone and they can check it out on the vehicle and put a load on it to make sure its still charging at optimum output.
Hope this puts some ideas in your head as to what else to do....

This is pretty much where it is going to stop for now. the next thing on the list is getting the new radiator in it, but I think I can wait till spring for that now if the weather stays cool. Went to put it in a while back and couldn't make it fit. The AC condensor has a nice bend in the middle from the wreck this rig was in and it wont clear the thicker radiator. It still has R12 in it so I don't just wanna let it go, guy I know has a reclaimer so maybe I can reuse it.
A few weeks ago put in an Exide Orbital extreme. A local guy sells factory seconds for 69.95. At that time I added a second ground wire from the battery to the fender, am getting better power in the interior now.
