Hi I thinking of giving my wife my Dana 60's for her jeep and replacing mine with Rockwells I prefer two front axels so it will have rear steer. I need help locating them and tech advice about them. Any help is appreciated Thanks.

I can get you 2 fronts complete from hub to hub for 1500.00 locally. What do you want tech wise? They are very versatile axles if your ready to go that big. Best setup seems to be flipped hubs with a pinion brake (very easy to do on these axles) Detroits for them are 375-400ea and if you break one of those things your doing something you shouldnt be I have a buddy that runs 15in wheels on his, he recentered them and built DIY beadlocks, its a pretty sweet dealio. pbeattie@kcac.com

Try Hess Salvage in Junction City. I saw 2 1/2 tons there for $300.00 a piece, and you can get two fronts at that price. For axle tech. try www.usa6x6forums.com/forums/I think that Rockwells would be cool, but Robin has wheeled a whole lot the last few years and just now broke his D30 with 38's.

Be careful geting them from the salvage yards! They could be messing parts or full of sand!

The only reason I still have a D30(BTW, 4th u-joint snapped) is $$, if $$ weren't an issue, I'd be running rockwells. Like anything you'd buy from a salvage yard, use caution, if possible take things apart and look at them. Harry Belman in Randolph is another guy to talk to, he deals with quite abit of military surplus vehicles, etc. Sorry for a stupid question, but what's flipped hubs?

In the May 20003 JP there is a rockwell tech section. The rear hubs are drilled and tapped on both sides to accept the axleshaft, so you can narrow or widening the axle. They weight a ton nearly 700 pounds in stock form. There is a tag on the axles that says which type it is. The undesirable model is a Timken with either Bendix or Rezepa-type of axle shafts. If the tag says Rockwell then it's got Sipcer-type shafts. Here are some sites, They also say with so much gearing, weight, and leverage that massive axle wrap is hard to avoid. www.boyceequipment.com www.chuckstrucks.net www.matkinsextreme.com www.poisonspydercustoms.comwww.samwinermotors.comwww.wagonermachine.com

thanks for the info, I think I might be getting into something out of my league. But that is what makes it a challenge.
Thanks Marc White WLGraphics

Those have the older axle shafts in them, so you really don't want them, but they can bereplace with the newer Sipcer-type shafts.
