Just wondering if there is any snowmobiling around here, I grew up doing lots of snowmobiling and jsut moved to Kansas this summer. Just wondering if there is any snowmobiling around here at all? Do you even get enough snow here for that? Where's the nearest trails?

Snowmobiling? Kansas? Surely you jest While snowmobiling is a blast(I did some growing up in northern Iowa) it's virtually non-existent in Kansas. The closest places to even do it would be Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and South Dakota(the Black Hills has some awesome snowmobile trails) If you want to stay local, get a quad, it'd be a much better investment unless you can do a lot of traveling.

Ya, I like the snow, but we don't get much anymore. Get some nice drifts at least once a winter that I can go out and bust with the jeep though. So that has to be enough to keep me happy.

Well I only moved here in July so you’ll have to excuse my question if it sounded stupid. I’m Canadian so I grew up snowmobiling every day after school, many times the roads would not get plowed for days and a snowmobile was your only way to get around. Even my old Jeep wouldn’t get far after a couple days of severe blizzards. Too bad, I had planned on buying a new MXZ Rev this winter before I moved here to Kansas. A quad is no comparison in my opinion to a snowmobile after a fresh downfall of powder. And I’m not talking about groomed trails, its most fun hitting the open country and making your own trails. We used to take ours out in the summer and use them on the lake, the new sleds are so light and powerful you would have no problem as long as your engine didn’t stall.
