Good luck, hope ya get everything up and running! Oh, he will. I'm the one working on it! It's going to run like a caffeinated cheetah when I'm done with it. Well, as well as it can, anyway. Note to you all: If you have Windows ME, find yourself a copy of Windows XP from ebay, or somewhere else cheap. Back up everything that's important to you, and format that thing! Me is worse than '95 or '98 ever thought of being, in terms of reliability and flakiness. Trust me, you'll be happy you upgraded. I know, I know. Viruses, worms, blah, blah, blah. All I've got to say is: Virus protection. Norton, McAfee, Computer Associates, whatever. Some kind of virus protection. All operating systems are vulnerable to one virus or the next, so no matter what you're running, and if you give a crap about your data, get some virus protection and keep it current. Not that there's anything virus-related that is wrong with Mike's machine, unless, of course, you're like me and think everything Microsoft is virus-infested.

Where's the love? I kinda feel like we're even. I've got 4 hours into that machine, which is really billable at $50-80/hour, he's got WinXP, OfficeXP, Symantec AV Corp. Ed. 8.1, and a new lan card, I loaded AOL 9, Quicktime, Real Player, Win Media 9, Flash, Shockwave, Acrobat Reader, all of the MS security updates, and set up the AV to scan every morning at 3am. Also, I got rid of his USB cable modem connection in favor of a 10-base-T connection. Much more reliable, IMHO. This is all, in large part, due to the fact that he's one of those types of guys who'll do anything for ya, if it's within his power. It's really the only way I know how to repay the favor he did me by douching out my alternator, saving me $250, or so. Still. Where's the love?

I guess what I should have said is that I have windows XP on 3 computers but........ hmmmm none of then have that little sticker on the side.
I really like XP. You have the better stability of the NT line combined with the user friendlyness of the 9x line.
Windows ME, it was just something released to make bill alittle extra money before XP came out. Should have never been put out there. Wasn't it out for only about 6 months?

No prob, man. Maybe I can work the same kind of situation for someone who would build me a pair of bumpers.
Yeah..... Somehow I'm thinking I'd have to supplement that with some cash.... yeah.
Had a great first Christmas with the new baby. I got all kinds of cool stuff:
1. 48" cast Hi-Lift 2. Air tool set (air hammer, impact wrench, air ratchet, and accessories) 3. 7-gallon air bubble 4. 6-gallon, 2.5hp compressor - good enough for what I need. 5. Cool rolling Stanley toolbox 6. 20' recovery strap
Some other really cool stuff, too. The Mrs. knows I'm into 'wheeling, so that's what she went for.
She did great.
It's too bad the real meaning of Christmas is completely lost on 98% of the population these days.

Oh, man, I wish I'd have checked the board before I went.
That would have been convenient.
Ah well. Such is life. Maybe Mike Caffey can pick it up for me next time he comes down your way. I think it might be awhile before I can again.
The bright side is, it looks like my in-laws are definitely moving here from Indiana in the spring, which will really open up my Saturdays for meeting attendance.
Thanks a bunch for holding onto it for me. How much did you say you needed to get for it again?
