The local salvage yard has a 90 XJ Laredo 2 door. 4.0, AW4, 231.
It has had a small engine fire on the fuel return line. Burned up some of the wiring harness, the fuel lines, and the PWR steering pump resivour. It has not been started parting out yet and is still all there.
If anybody is interested I could check on price. I already have to many.

I towed the Frog on a trailer with my '87 XJ, it did ok, I could hold highway speed, but it took a little longer get to highway speed. Stopping was very uncomfortable especially without trailer brakes I flat towed a CJ7 with it also and it did much better that way.

I just think size and weight you would want a truck really to tow. I don't think they really have the power to tow, the power band for the 4.0 isn't really designed for towing I would think. What year was the first H.O.? If it isn't a H.O., then I would think it has less power but I may be wrong. I could be wrong here, sorry if I am.

I forgot what the XJ's towing capacity is but it is fairly capable for towing. I wouldn't in the mountains. A good set of brake pads and sloted rotors will help with stoping. Here a Ford 8.8 would be good with the rear brakes. The proer difference between the HO and the non HO really is minimal. Also the auto has more towing ability than the manual transmission

He said $750. Might be able to work on him a little bit though. I hate to see a complete XJ get boned out, a 2 door model at that. His thinking is that he could get a little over $500 for the engine and trans alone, so that is the main reason for the price. Lemme know if anybody is interested. I should just buy it, fix it, and resell it I guess Maybe I could trade him my 85

I flat towed my scrambler from Tucson to Wichita with little problems using my 94 ZJ with the 4.0. I don't think it's ideal but it did the job.
