This is something that's been posted on the Yahoo site and I thought it'd be a good idea to post here to benefit some of our new members.
Trail & ORV Etiquette
1. Tread Lightly!
2. Take out more than you take in.
3. Slow down in staging areas and around groups of people.
4. Watch out for "spectators".
5. Very few trails are marked one-way, when meeting another vehicle, hiker, horses, bikers, etc., move off to the side of the trail as far as you safely can and let them by. Be polite and yield the right of way.
6. When your view is obstructed alway make sure the obstacle is clear before attempting it.
7. When in a trail group always keep the vehicle behind you in view or when you clear an obstacle make sure the vehicle behind you also clears the obstacle before moving on.
8. If the group must stop to repair a break down or just to take a break, move off the trail as to not block the trail for other users.
9. Adhere to local laws and ORV, OHV, rules.
10. NEVER, leave anyone behind! Reguardless if they're part of the group or not, check and see if assistance is needed and help if possible. Be sure that the individual will not be stranded before leaving.
11. When a hillclimb is part of the trail, stay at the base of the hill and maintain a "safe zone"(in case the vehicle in front of you has to come down)until the vehicle in front of you clears the summit.
12. When decending a steep hill make sure the vehicle in front of you clears the base of the hill before beginning your decent.
13. Don't use alcohol or drugs on the trail. Not only is it irresponsible, it's ILLEGAL. It's sets a bad example for our children and gives the eco-freaks more ammo.
