I think a 203/300 combo would work for you, that would give you about 5 to 1, the adapter for that combo is $500 from Advance Adapters. Tera and Lomax offer 4-1 kits for the D300 and if I remember right, Off Road Design and High Impact Off-Road offer 3-1 gear sets for the 203. I haven't seen gear sets for the 205, but that doesn't mean they're not out there. WMS also does some cool doubler and tripler combos, 203/203, 203/203/300 A Klune-V crawler box is also an option but it runs right around $1800.

Seriously I'd run Toyota cases. or a toyota case then a D300 behind it.

I'm not shure that a D300 or Toyota T-cases would be up to the task. Both are good units but your K5 is pretty heavy I think you would end up breaking them alot. I know there are no crawler gears out for the NP205...yet. There is a company working on a set but no word on when they will be released. There is nothing wrong with the 203/205 doubler besides everyone has done it allready but if it works...

Thanks Rob. I didnt know that there was a way to double up a pair of 203's. I have a friend checking into exactly what it takes to double them up since i am running one now and have spare in the shed John, I'll let you know what i find out. I run the 203 in my burban, and dont plan to change it. Its a good t-case, and you dont have to worry about the chain too much since it is 2.5 inches wide. The 203 only has a couple of down sides...1) it weighs 175lbs 2)hard shifting. It has a 2.0:1 low range(same as the 205), and is easier to find in a salvage since most people are looking for the 205's when they upgrade. It is a full time t-case, but there are a couple of part time kits out there.

A d300 is plenty strong, I know a guy that's running it behind a 500hp 454 BB. WMS also adapts a 203/203/205.
Just out of curiosity, what kind a gear sets are available for Yota cases and what's it cost to build one or 2?

Are you talkin about Bob Butch, Robin? If I remeber right he broke the rear output shaft on it on I think hardluck once.
The yota cases have a 4to1, 4.7to1 and even a 5to1avalible. I've never priced the 5to1 but I know the 4to1 is around $550 and the 4.7to1 is about $600.

Yup, that's the weak spot on a D300, you can get a hardened output shaft and output shaft housing that makes it virtually indestructable, but by the time you do that and add a 4-1 kit you're almost at the price of an Atlas. A little spendy to build, but a very strong and reliable t-case. Yep they make adapters to run them behind GM trannys. If ya look around a used one can be had stupid cheap, hell I had a whole 84 Yoter given to me. I think people on the net generally sell the cases around a hundred bucks though. Bones runs doubled Tcases and 4.0 gears in the rear case

I have about $800 in my doubler with a 4.0 geared rear case. Then driveshafts after that. I got the 4.0 case complete and only a year old for $400 and the adapter is $400 I think.
I forgot a new crossmember as well. Call it a grand then.
FWIW lots of folks run them behind 4.3's and 5.7's in dual config's. Sure breakage happens, but if you run dual stock cases, for $100 (cost of a used case) it's a simple cheap fix really.
Also upgradeable outputs are availabel and also 21 and 23 spline versions.
I'm biased, but also eveny the option to have FWD and RWD selectability. Something I do not have.

now during the month Dec. Martin Crawler has the 4.7 kits on sale for $489. 4x4 Land estimated $250 to install.Inch Worm has the cases redun with 4.7 or 5.0 gears for $675 exchange. Plus it would cost you shipping , probably both ways. Now I know nothing of the strength of these Toy T Cases. Don't know if they would hold up or not. Dan

8-)Hello this is Allen from 4x4 land. If you are going to run the 300, the plan on putting some money into it to hold up to the weight of a full-size. I personally would do the 203 to 205 doubler. That is very durable and probably cheaper.

The "Marlin" Crawler is a good case but I dont know about on a full size. In a Yota they are d**n near indestructable. I wouldnt pay someone to put the gears in, unless you are totally mechanically uninclined, they are not hard, just time consuming and a little patience.
They hold up awsome to the rigors of a Yota motor and I have even heard they can hold up alright to the Chevy 4.3 liter engine swap but I dont know that from experience.

Cool was just trying to see my options for the next thing I want to do. I wish advanced adapters would make a 203/205 kit. they are a whole lot cheaper than some of the other guys. that is why I was thinkin' about the 203/300 option. I know there is one company(name escapes me right now) that make a 3 to 1 kit for the 203 but they want a grand for just the kit. thanks John

I think I would refrain from running a Yota or a 300 case in a K-5 the 300 is a darn good case that will hold up to high hp in a light weight rig. but put it behind a heavy much underpowered rig I don't think it would be upto the task. And I know nothing about the toy case but it is designed to go behind a low hp fairlt light weight rig also. Stech your frame John and run a doubler
