Awhile back Alex brought up the idea of t-shirts for the KK. Here's my thoughts on that, the last 2 years at the 4x4 Fest the FL got t-shirts for the event, lots of them, and could hardly give them away. I think they actually lost money on them, but I can't say for sure. To me that's not a good prospect. Also, I don't really think we have the funds to get 100 or so shirts, Mark can answer that better than I can.
At the last meeting, I suggested possibly a fish-net type trash bag with the TK logo on it, something that could be hung off the back of your 4x4 to help pack it in-pack it out. After some more thought, I don't know if that's necessarily a good idea either, from a funds available or sales perspective. At this point I'm thinking that we should just stick with dash plaques this year and maybe do a little more next year, when we're a little more financialy capable. Any thoughts?

Heres my thoughts for what there worth. No matter whether its a small or large club you have to have realistic goals, it's not wise to get into a sink or swim situation. Have plaques, raffles and a good time, this I believe will get word out of the event and hopefully grow in particapation each year. Have someone cooking burgers and dogs for a small profit and cold drinks (pop). Put profit back into club to afford better things down the line. This is a real crowd pleaser-- have you ever seen grown men gather around for there chance to climb over a junk vehicle . Heres an example of what a club can do when the set goals--the KC4WDA started small and now is over 150 members, they set a goal to open a offroad park. Because of there size they have money coming in from raffles and such. The club made the decision to become Incorporated, not for profit. This allowed them to file for and recieve a grant for $250,000 from the state of Kansas to buy land and open a offroad park. Well thats enough rambling--- like I said, set realistic goals.

Thanks for the input Bill! I agree, I think it's best to start small and try to stay within our financial limits. We've already got a large raffle item secured, and lots of great door prizes thanks to Mark & Jeremy's hard work. I've talked to alot of people about the Krawl and the one thing that's getting best response is "bring your own sack lunch, cause we're on the trail all day" people love the idea of more play time, a more relaxed schedule with lots of wheelin' involved. I think that with all those things going for it, I don't see a need for t-shirts and such, I don't think they'll sell and I don't think the club should go in the hole just to get something that won't sell. Once the event has established itself as a do-not-miss event, that changes things, but we're not there yet, and may not be for a couple years, but we'll get there. I do want to get dash plaques if at all possible, that one thing I'd like to send home with people to remind them of the great time they had! I personally like them, there's alot of great memories in the plaques that I have. I really like the idea of a junk car to drive over ;D, was that used as a fund raiser or just for fun? Jeremy, you want to donate your car? ;D

Well lets put it this way--would you be willing to pay a couple of bucks to say you crawled over a car and even had pictures to prove it. No small imports, something like a huge station wagon--gotta be a challenge (minus all glass). Darn, right now I don't have any extra vehicles. For the clubs benefit maybe someone would donate a-- never mind I won't resort to using four letter words

Heck yeah I'd pay a couple bucks for that! The more I think about it, the more I like the idea! I've got a '79 dodge van I'd give up but I think that'd be a bit too tall An old station wagon or oldsmobile delt 88 would be perfect, but I'd love to crush some foriegn POS.

Looking at our account we should definitly not be buying anything excessive. I just spent $210 with SWFWDA and just ordered more ws banners. Rob is correct I remember after last years 4X4 Flopauctioning off t-shirts for $2-3 and letting the winner have as many as they wanted at that price. We were also giving them away as door prizes. This wasn't too profitable. If it was want 100 shirts at that price! We do have alot to offerwith door prizes and the raffle item. And I expect alot more door prizes starting in a couple months. I am not sure if the car crawl would go over very well in the Randolph community, but it would be worth bringing up with them. Also our club printer can be used with out a computer attached to it, we could take pictures ( with a digital camera that uses a card) and print them off for people that want them. I also would like to video the event if we have enough people to cover the trail to where I could float around. I can save it as a Mpeg and have a 30 minute video or learn how save it as a VCD and have around a hour of video per cd and sell these on a demand basis, by mail. Eventually I would like to do DVD but those burners are still out of my reach. OK I'll shut up now!

I don't think they'd have a problem with it considering what all goes on during their 4th of July celebration. It's a great event they put on, especially considering the whole town probably has 150 people. But when they'll legalize public intoxication for day, I kinda doubt they'll have a problem with some sober people crushing a car, especially if they're guaranteed that all glass and fluids are removed before hand and it will all get hauled off.

I don't think they would either. as long as there was no glass, of fluids to be spilt. I just think it should be asked before we just do.

I agree, the 4x4 community has always had a good relationship with Randolph, and it should be kept that way. We may have to go to a city council meeting or something.

This all sounds great, i would say also to pass on the shirts this year unless we can get them donated some how, there is a place here in waterville that makes t-shirts i will or i wont if you dont want me to, is ask them if they would like to donate or make really cheap...
as for a car not sure if it is big enough or it will last long enough, i have a 87 F**d Taurus Station wagon collecting rust and weeds in my backyard i will donate that if you think it will work..

If, and that is a big IF, we decide to go with shirts for anyone, staff, or otherwise, I do happen to be employed by a rather large screen print and embroidery company. I could probably get a deal. I would agree that selling them would probably flop, but for the staff, I think it would be good.

i hate to be the one bringing it back up but i kinda like jeremys idea. We could have some for the staff, and then if we wanted to take it a step farther we could take orders if anyone wanted one and then send them to them after the KK for a price of course.
